Our Story

Barbara Hearne

Barbara began in a catering company when she was young and continued her adult career working with caterers, country clubs, and hotels for the next 15 years gaining priceless experience helping couples create beautiful weddings. Barbara was a wedding planner before it became a popular business path. She realized that she could help more couples create their wedding dreams without working at a venue, she took a leap of faith and officially made Barbara’s Brides her full-time career in 1999.

Barbara considers it such a blessing to be able to help couples by bringing all their ideas or visions together in order to create a dream event. Barbara loves the excitement of weddings and how every single wedding is different in some way, just like each couple is different. Barbara designs weddings based on what the couples love including favorite colors, their hobbies, favorite foods, decorating styles, and other unique touches. Seeing a couple’s elation on their wedding day makes Barbara grateful for following her own dreams and creating one of Austin’s top wedding consulting companies earning “The Knot Best of Weddings” for 12 years and the first planner in Austin to earn “The Knot Best of Wedding’s Hall of Fame”

Barbara is a natural at stress relief with her organization, calm demeanor, and firm direct approach to the many different situations that arise at weddings. She is candid and proactive finding solutions without reacting negatively which keeps the wedding plans running smoothly. Barbara understands that building a team that can problem-solve instead was critical to the success of her weddings. Barbara became ordained years ago just to be sure she could perform ceremonies for any future weddings if needed. One officiant delayed in a car accident was one too many. She learns something new at every wedding. She knows continued education is key in taking the best care of her couple, her team, and herself.

Barbara participated in establishing the first wedding planner and vendor organization, AWEC over 20 years ago, to educate, unite, and further networking in the Austin wedding community. Barbara served on the board and as President with the organization. She was also a board member of NEAWP after the end of AWEC. Being an active participant in the wedding community and mentoring wedding planners has always been very important to her, but so has pursuing new paths when needed. Putting her time and energy into activities that not only benefit her but also others.

Barbara believes in self-care so that she is at her best for her family and couples. Barbara’s favorite things are painting, coloring, visiting spas, Netflix marathons, endless reading, using essential oils for stress relief, and improved health/wellness, private time with family, and beach visits. Her kids introduced her to theatre and the love of theatre became a solid foundation in her family. In 2016 Barbara, along with a past high school theatre director, founded Cedar Park Theatre Company to provide community theatre to their city.

Gina Whittington

My love for entertaining started at a young age. I mean, what little girl would rather shop for linens and napkin rings over shoes? Moving to Austin and working in the high-end design industry solidified my love for all things textural, gorgeous, and fabulous!

WHITT is all about savoring the experience of life – from the smallest of details to the largest of events! My passions are vast, yet all linked to entertaining: wine, travel, design, shopping, and food! I feel equally as comfortable at a Michelin-Starred restaurant or the “diviest” of bars, and seek both out wherever my travels take me. I am a huge lover of all animals. Pups, otters, seals, narwhals, and unicorns all make my heart happy! Ideally, I would make wine, cook for those I love, and have an animal rescue – all on one piece of land.

I am the friend you call when you need to plan a party, stalk someone, share a bottle or three of wine, need business advice, or need recommendations on food or travel! I love being able to help and connect people.

I have planned weddings and events for over 15 years, and am ridiculously lucky to do so. I LOVE being the calming and guiding voice throughout the planning process, and helping relieve my clients of their stress. I drink a lot the day after – it helps. Being around families on their happiest occasion they have celebrated is magical!

I am surrounded by the best squad a girl could dream of! I am so appreciative of all my friends and family that have made me into the insanely passionate person I am today. You know who you are, and you know that my loyal devotion is not something I take lightly….the Scorpio in me is REAL!

I don’t believe in “callings” until I really sit down and think about it. Yep, this is my calling. The world can be a reallll shit show, so sit back and read a bit and escape! I want to share my randomly real and relatable experiences in hope they will help you savor our own experiences!
